Weather Anchor

Frankie Katafias joined the KIRO 7 News team in July 2022. Before KIRO, Frankie spent the past six years working across California and Idaho. In California, she worked as a freelance reporter for CityTV-Lakewood, a government-owned station in Lakewood, California, and KUSI San Diego. While in San Diego she covered one season of high school football and the PGA Farmers Insurance Open. In Idaho she spent four years working her way up from a multimedia journalist to morning weather anchor. In Idaho, Frankie won several awards for her work as a journalist. Some of her favorite stories include helping free a Idaho man who was wrongfully imprisoned overseas and assisting lawmakers in reforming animal cruelty laws across the state. For the past two years, Frankie embraced her love for meteorology and turned to it full-time. Rain, snow, or shine Frankie helped Idahoans plan out their days accordingly making sure they knew what to expect (and pack) across the valleys and mountains. A graduate of Dominican University of California in 2015 she received her Bachelor’s degree with Departmental Honors. She also received a tennis scholarship to Dominican, a NCAA DII program. Born here in the Evergreen State, Frankie was raised in Southern California, but always hoped to make her return to the Pacific Northwest and she is so happy she made it. On her days off you can find Frankie and her dogs, Nika and Bandit, around Western Washington... and yes she's a big Seahawks, Mariners, Kraken, and... UDub fan (Go Dawgs!) Catch Frankie's forecasts every Saturday from 5-11pm and Sunday's 5-midnight!
