Woman walking dog in Renton struck in hit-and-run

RENTON, Wash. — Police say a woman who was walking her dog in Renton was struck by a pickup, which then fled.

Officers say the woman had just dropped her children off at McKnight Middle School Tuesday and was crossing the street at Northeast 12th and Edmonds Avenue Northeast at 8:30 a.m. when she was hit by the truck described as a 2000s silver or tan Chevrolet Silverado.

The woman has significant injuries, but they're not life threatening.

Detective Robert Onishi said there is a chance the driver may not know he hit the woman.

“Potentially the driver could have been looking towards the left , worried about cross traffic, he might not have realized someone was even crossing,” Onishi said.

According to Onishi, it's unknown if the truck has front end damage.

Not much is known about the driver only that he is described as an older man and police need your help to find him and get to the bottom of what happened.

“We've exhausted the resources we've been able to find in the area that might have captured the pickup truck but we know a lot of people have ring doorbell and that type of home video surveillance system,” Onishi added.

Anyone who saw the collision or has any information on the driver or vehicle is asked to contact Renton police at 425-430-7500.

The dog was not hurt.
