Leonardo DiCaprio on getting his Oscar engraved: 'I wouldn't know'

Los Angeles — Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar Sunday night after being nominated six times in the past.

The actor won for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part as 19th century fur trapper Hugh Glass in "The Revenant."

Oscar winners make their way to the Governor's Ball after the ceremony, where they get their awards engraved with their names.

But DiCaprio didn't know this was something that happened every year, according to Variety.

While he waited for his statue to be engraved, he made small talk with the person etching the plaque.

"Do you do this every year? I wouldn't know," he joked.

DiCaprio also went home with a booklet telling him how to care for his Oscar.
