TACOMA, Wash. — You can see and hear thieves stealing packages from the porch of a Tacoma home. And even though the camera was directly above them, they never saw it.
But homeowner Jeff Fabiani saw them, watching live online from miles away.
“I was at work just doing my thing and I have a monitor over here, and I just happened to look over and see some stranger walking up,” Fabini said.
Fabiani even moved the camera remotely to get a better look at the man and woman taking three packages left at his home.
“I followed her with the camera. Move the camera back down because I thought they left, [they] come right back and the guy gets out of the car. There was a bigger package, maybe she couldn’t lift it,” he said.
Fabiani and his wife Mariah bought the camera system after similar thefts last year.
They shared the video with KIRO 7 hoping someone will recognize the thieves and call police.
As for the thieves who made off with presents for the couple's son and family?
“Selfish,” said Fabiani. “They don’t want to work hard for their money, they want to take other people’s stuff.”
Fabiani said in the future he’ll arrange for packages to be left at the delivery service’s office, or at his home only if someone is there to sign for them.
