Firefighters rescue woman down cliff at Point Defiance

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma firefighters rescued a woman who slipped 75 feet down a steep embankment at Point Defiance Park Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters executed a high-angle rope rescue at the Narrows Lookout along the Five Mile Drive.

When rescuers reached the woman, she was conscious and stable.

Video from Chopper 7 showed firefighters descending down a steep embankment where they secured the woman on a backboard in preparation of hoisting her up to safety.

The extent of her injuries are not known.
