Man stuck head-first in rail car rescued after 18 hours

SEATTLE — Firefighters rescued a 25-year-old man who was trapped for 18 hours in a dry goods tanker.

Crews were called to the 6200 block of Seaview Avenue Northwest in Ballard Wednesday morning after people walking on a nearby trail heard his screams and called 911.

The man crawled into a small hole on the outside of the tanker, slid down a small incline and became trapped head-first.

Medics transported the man to Swedish Hospital in to be checked out for minor injuries.
