WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Park Service tweeted Wednesday night that fires have caused the closure of all trails and camps in the Chilliwack area of the North Cascades. All trails and camps entering the park complex at the Hannegan Pass Trailhead, including Copper Loop, to the junction of Big Beaver Trail, are closed.
The closures also include all camps between the Boundary and Stillwell camps.
Park officials said there are multiple fires that were discovered late Tuesday night after storms came through the area.
As the fires are in a remote area of the Stephen Mather Wilderness, where there is steep terrain, firefighters are working to determine when they will be able to safely engage.
