A 34-year-old Tacoma man walking on state Route 7 died early Sunday after being struck by a car.
The Washington State Patrol said the man was walking on the Mountain Highway at 221st Street Court E. at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday when a Chevrolet Impala driven by a 57-year-old Puyallup woman struck him. The car was traveling north on Route 7.
It was unclear what direction the man was walking or in what lane, the State Patrol said.
The man was transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center where he later died.
One lane of Route 7 was blocked for one hour while troopers investigated.
The pedestrian’s identify was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver is not facing criminal charges. The accident remains under investigation.
