Eight months after a Russian businessman vanished while hiking in the Cascade Mountains, his son today spent time at the place his father was last seen.

Sergey Cherepov, 57, disappeared last September while hiking near the Goldmyer Hot Springs area with two of his friends.

Authorities said he told his friends he was not feeling well and left to go back to the car.

He went off the trail was not seen again.

His son, who is also named Sergey Cherepov, today came to Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest to see where his father had been before he disappeared.

This is the son's first time in the U.S.

A translator said of the son, "He has hope and he dreamt recently that his father is in Seattle and working as a driver.”

We talked to King County Search & Rescue detective Ed Christian, who said hundreds of volunteers have been looking for Cheropov since last fall.

“If I knew what happened to him, I would find him,” said Christian. "My gut feeling is he’s up in (the mountains) somewhere. We are just not finding him.”

Investigators said there are no signs of foul play.

They believe Cheropov got lost in the wilderness and may have suffered hypothermia.
