SEATTLE — A man was shot in the legs outside a south Seattle Safeway on Monday night, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Around 11 p.m. on March 7, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Rainier Avenue South in Seattle.
When officers arrived, they found a security guard with gunshot wounds to his legs.
Medics transported the security guard to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police the security guard had kicked several people out of the store earlier in the day for shoplifting.
During that incident, one of the shoplifters reportedly punched and spit on the guard.
Later that evening, the shoplifter and a group of other people returned to the store.
Someone in the group was armed with a large stick and a firearm as they went to confront the guard.
The guard and several other people fought with the group until one of them shot the guard and fled.
