The Seattle Seahawks, Storm and Sounders FC will join Bloodworks Northwest and the Seattle Mariners for the pop-up blood drive at T-Mobile Park.
Bloodworks Northwest made the announcement Thursday.
Each team will host its own drive at T-Mobile Park. They will be held on consecutive Fridays over the next three weeks
April 24 – Seattle Sounders Friends and Family Day
May 1 -- Seattle Seahawks Staff Day
May 8 – Seattle Storm Friends and Family Day
Officials with Bloodworks Northwest said even though the hosted blood drives are dedicated for staff members, friends and family, each team is encouraging its fans to make their one-hour donation appointment.
In accordance with social distancing guidelines, only scheduled appointments will be allowed. No walk-ins, guests, or people under age 16 will be permitted onsite.
For those interested, appointments can be scheduled here.
The additional drives will bring the total number to 1,600 potential donation appointments.
“Amid all the uncertainty the pandemic created in our community, patients in area hospitals still need blood for trauma, cancer, and even COVID-19,” said Bloodworks Northwest President and CEO Curt Bailey. “The Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, Storm, and Sounders FC joining together to make blood donation opportunities available at T-Mobile Park will ensure patients get the hard-fought remissions and recoveries they deserve.”
Bloodworks and the Mariners started the pop-up blood drive earlier this month and extended it through May.
Bloodworks has posted information addressing questions and concerns for blood donors here.
