Seattle now accepting businesses’ applications for storefront repair fund

SEATTLE — Seattle businesses that dealt with property damage on or after Jan. 1, 2021, may get some extra cash.

Starting Tuesday, the city is accepting applications for their storefront repair fund.

“Yeah, so we were broken into last Tuesday night around 3 a.m.,” said Wes Yoo, owner of WeRo Korean Kitchen.

The city received $2 million in federal money to go toward economic recovery.

“I thought to myself, ‘Oh, well, I guess I know that this is something that a lot of businesses have been dealing with the past year or two,’ and I thought, ‘Ok, well, you know, I’m sure that’s helpful,’” said Yoo.

The grant money can help cover broken windows, broken doors, broken locks and etching on windows.

“I don’t know how much it will cost yet, because the glass company that I’ve been talking to, they were sort of looking out like a week just for giving me estimate even,” said Yoo.

The grant does not cover loss of stolen goods or damages such as graffiti.
