PORTLAND — Portland-based Salt & Straw Ice Cream has issued a voluntary recall for a limited number of their Chocolate Gooey Brownie pints over concerns it may contain undeclared peanuts, the company announced Tuesday.

Salt & Straw Ice Cream opened a Ballard location on Feb. 9 and a Capitol Hill location on Feb. 16. Click here for store information.

“The product is safe to consume unless you have a peanut allergy or sensitivity. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem,” the company said in a news release.

Salt & Straw Ice Cream initiated the recall after their chocolate supplier, Pitch Dark Chocolate, explained that the chocolate chips used in the Gooey Brownie may have had possible cross-contact with a peanut allergen.

The Chocolate Gooey Brownie pints under recall were sold in shops in California, Oregon, Washington, and online from July 17 until August 13, and can be identified with the following plant and lot codes:

The company says anyone who has purchased the recalled pints, and who has a sensitivity/allergy to peanuts, is encouraged to discard the product or return it to a shop for a full refund.
