CLALLAM COUNTY, Wash. — Multiple duffle bags filled with drugs worth millions were found on a beach west of Port Angeles, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office stated Wednesday.

Authorities said one person reported to them on April 7 that he had found a large duffle bag and he looked inside and saw that it contained what appeared to be white crystal materials, believing it may be drugs.

When deputies came out to the beach where the bag was found, they determined the contents were highly likely to be methamphetamine after conducting a field chemical test.

Once deputies took the bag to the Sheriff’s Office to investigate further, they determined there were nearly 60 pounds of meth and 2.6 pounds of suspected cocaine.

Just days later, a different person called law enforcement and reported that he had found several duffle bags with wrapped containers of a crystal substance near the area where the first bag was found, which he believed were drugs, officials said.

Deputies responded and found seven duffle bags like the first seen on the beach days ago. Inside the bags appeared to be drugs.

When the bags were taken back to the Sheriff’s Office for further investigation, it was determined they were filled with 342 pounds of methamphetamine, officials said. The drugs were estimated to have a wholesale value of $2 million and a street value of nearly $7 million.

Authorities are asking anyone who saw any suspicious vehicle in the Joyce area along State Route 112 or unusual boat traffic in the strait west of Salt Creek Tongue Point during those days to give them a call at 360-417-2262 or leave an anonymous tip at:

The case is also being investigated by other agencies such as the U.S. Border Patrol and the FBI.
