SEATTLE — A man in his 40s was crushed in a forklift accident at Terminal 18 on Seattle's Harbor Island Thursday evening.
Washington Department of Labor and Industries spokesman Hector Castro said the worker was a forklift driver who was pinned between a forklift and a container.
Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said fellow workers removed the trapped man before firefighters arrived.
He was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
All four of the cargo terminals will be closed until 6 p.m. on Friday out of respect for the worker, as is tradition.
The man's death is under investigation.
Longshoreman are continuing to work cruise ship terminals Friday to facilitate movement of passengers .
