KING COUNTY, Wash. — King County submitted a plan Wednesday to the Department of Health that would allow a wider range of businesses to reopen in a modified version of the state's reopening plan.
King County is currently in phase 1 of the Safe Start plan. The proposal put forth would still adhere to most of the requirements of that phase, but more types of businesses could reopen.
“Our plan to safely reopen our region’s economy is based on the latest data, recommendations by Public Health experts, and insight from communities and businesses,” said King County Executive Dow Constantine. “We are ready to take the next careful step toward an equitable recovery that benefits everyone who calls King County home.”
If approved, the plan would allow:
- All outdoor recreation permitted in phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan
- Indoor fitness studios to open for one-on-one activities
- Restaurants to open indoor seating at 25% capacity
- Hair stylists, barbers, nail salons and other personal services to open at 25% capacity
The plan was developed by public health experts, community leaders, businesses and the King County Council.
The state will decide in the next several days whether or not to accept the plan.
