He had just gotten out of a club on Leary Avenue and was about to go home to his family when his life was suddenly cut short.

"We just really miss him," Samantha Baker said. "We miss him a lot and we're just trying to move forward."

Though there are moments Baker wants to break down, she's trying desperately to keep it together for these three young children who are struggling to process why their father isn't coming home.

Her husband was gunned down about a week and a half ago.

"Hanging in there with the kids," Samantha added. "Just really trying to be strong for them."

Police arrested Christopher Miles Gates, a felon who served time for robbery.

"I think I thought it would make me feel a lot better, and in some ways it does. It's nice to know the person has been caught, but at the same time there are a lot of questions, more questions coming up with it," Samantha said.

She doesn't recognize Gates, but police say surveillance video shows Gates following Robert Baker out of the Cedar Room, a club off Leary Avenue, and shooting him from across the street.

Gates denied knowing anything.

Court documents don't reveal a motive.

"So it still doesn't feel like there is full closure to the story," Samantha explained. "Why such a person is now missing from our family."

Robert was a dedicated father with an infectious smile, and Samantha says she will work hard to keep his memory alive.

"I just want them to always remember how much he loved them," she added. "And never forget him."

Samantha is also trying to support her family now, since Robert Baker was the family's provider. She's created this GoFundMe campaign if you want to donate.

Gates' arraignment is May 16. He's being held on $2 million bail on charges of murder and being a felon in unlawful possession of a gun.
