All lanes back open on SB I-5 in downtown Seattle after crash, lost load

All lanes of southbound I-5 were blocked near Yesler Way by a crash and lost load in downtown Seattle. A semi truck lost a load of lumber, which may have fallen onto a car.

UPDATE: All lanes of southbound I-5 in downtown Seattle have reopened after a crash and lost load closed the three right lanes near Yesler Way.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported a three-mile backup about 1 p.m. when the lanes were opened back up.

ORIGINAL STORY: All lanes of southbound I-5 were blocked near Yesler Way by a crash and lost load in downtown Seattle. As of 11:47 a.m., only one lane was open.

The left lane of northbound I-5 was blocked as well, but reopened shortly after noon.

At least one passenger car and a semi-truck, which lost a load of lumber, were involved  in the crash that happened at about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Video from Chopper showed an overturned car and an ambulance leaving the site of the crash. The condition of the injured person is not known.

At 11:09 a.m., a tow truck was at the scene to remove the damaged car.

A Washington State Department of Transportation crew is working to clear the debris from the lanes.
