5 hurt in 2-alarm fire at Kent apartment complex

KENT, Wash. — Five people had minor injuries after a two-alarm fire damaged a Kent apartment complex early Monday.

The fire at the Atrium on James apartments in the 24000 block of 64th Avenue South was reported at around 1:30 a.m.

Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Valley Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire & Rescue and King County Medic One responded.

A photo from the scene showed damage on the upper floors, particularly on the left side of the complex.

Firefighters put out the flames in about 50 minutes, according to Puget Sound Fire.

The Red Cross is helping residents who were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
