SEATTLE — A Utah man was charged with felony harassment in King County Superior Court after prosecutors say he threatened to kill an employee at a Bartell Drugs store in Seattle.

The incident is alleged to have happened around 11:30 on January 8 at a store located at 1101 Madison Street.

In charging documents, prosecutors said Travis Lee Moody, 23, took a six-pack of hard seltzer from the store and attempted to leave without paying.

When confronted by an employee, prosecutors say Moody “threw an open can at him, waived a 4-inch fixed blade knife and threatened, “Don’t come any closer, or else.’”

Moody then used the knife to stab a pack of skittles on his way out of the store, prosecutors said.

According to a probable cause document, police arrived at the scene and detained Moody nearby.

The employee then identified Moody as the suspect, police said.

Police said they recovered a black fixed-blade knife in a search of Moody, arrested him and booked him into jail.

According to charging documents, Moody’s criminal history includes previous convictions for assault, disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon, among others.

Prosecutors noted Moody’s criminal history and said he “is unlikely to appear in response to a summons and will commit a violent offense,” in their request for bail.

Moody’s arraignment, during which he will enter a plea, is expected to happen later this month.
