Sequim man killed after car crashes, burns

SEQUIM, Wash. — Police said a 78-year-old man was killed after his car crashed into a tree and caught fire in Sequim.

The Clallam County Sheriff's Office said police and fire were dispatched to a crash involving a brush fire in the area of Lotzgesell Road near Cays Road in Sequim Tuesday evening.

A vehicle that had crashed into a tree was on fire.

A 78-year-old Sequim man who was believed to be the driver was found dead inside the vehicle.

Police said the car was heading east on Lotzgesell Road near Cays Road when it left the road and struck a tree.

The cause of the crash has not been determined and the wreck is being investigated by the Clallam County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit.
