SEATTLE — A group worried about traffic safety is marching in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood Thursday.
They're concerned that Northeast 65th Street is dangerous.
Andres Salomon said that in three years, 68 people have been injured in the mile and a half between 35th and 5th Avenue.
He says it’s time for the community to rally to fix 65th.
“Almost three quarters of the people that were injured on 65th in the past three years were drivers. So, as somebody who is driving on 65th, you should be incredibly concerned,” said Salomon.
Salomon said pedestrians and cyclists are also in danger.
A ghost bike along 65th represents a man who was hit and killed on his bike on the way home from work.
"That area always concerns me. I'm on high alert when I'm going through there,” said cyclist Bill Brugnoli.
Some suggested eliminating parking on one side of the street.
The group wants the Seattle Department of Transportation to do a formal study that will ultimately lead to a redesign for crosswalks and slower speed limits.
SDOT says it will take the neighborhood's suggestions into consideration when reviewing future plans for Northeast 65th.
The march starts at 8 a.m.
