Wagner is the first Seahawks player in franchise history to be voted first-team AP All-Pro five times. Left tackle Walter Jones was selected to the first team four times in his Hall of Fame career.

“As you get older you kind of understand how hard these things are to get. And so you don’t take any of them for granted and are very grateful for your health, grateful for your teammates,” Wagner said in a statement to the AP. “As you get older you reflect and you appreciate things differently that you might not have had when you were young.”

Wagner finished the regular season with an NFL-best 159 total tackles. He also added three sacks, one forced fumble and an interception.
