Water main breaks in Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Crews are working to repair a broken water main in the Eastgate area of Bellevue.

The city said a fitting burst on a 16-inch main.

The break occurred at Southeast 31st Street and 161st Avenue Southeast about 10 a.m.

A witness said he saw the water covering the street and running down people’s driveways.  He said the water was shut off about a half-hour later.

Water also gushed into the parking lot of a condominium complex.

The city said it is working with people who might have slight damage to their homes.

There is no estimate as to when the repair will be complete.
