USPS forced to make postage stamps cheaper

Sending a letter is about to get a little cheaper.

The United States Postal Service is being forced to reduce the price of its postage stamps starting this Sunday.

The price reduction was mandated by the Postal Regulatory Commission.

In a statement, USPS said it expects to lose about $2 billion in annual revenue.

49 cent stamps are being reduced to 47 cents. Postcards will be reduced from 35 cents to 34 cents, USPS says.

The Postal Regulatory Commission approved the current prices in Jan. 2014, reacting to significant revenue losses during the recession.

According to USPS, commercial prices will also decrease.
