WATCH: Olympic gold medalist Jade Carey flips, throws 1st pitch for Diamondbacks

PHOENIX — Just weeks after winning gold at the Olympics, gymnast Jade Carey has taken her tumbling talents to the diamond.

According to Arizona Sports, the 21-year-old Arizona native, who won the individual floor exercise final in Tokyo, turned a baseball tradition upside-down at Monday’s matchup between the Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres, performing a front aerial ahead of her ceremonial first pitch at Chase Field.

“We’re flipping out over @jadeacarey’s first pitch,” the D-backs tweeted alongside a slow-motion video of the moment.

Carey also took to Instagram to share photos from her appearance.

“Thank you @dbacks for having me!” she wrote. “It was so much fun throwing out the first pitch in Chase Field!”

The news came less than two weeks after the Oregon State-bound gymnast was added to the lineup for Olympic teammate Simone Biles’ upcoming Gold Over America Tour, which kicks off Sept. 21 in Tucson.
