Walmart is set to open 28 new healthcare centers in the United States next year, the retailer announced Thursday.
According to the company, there will be more than 75 Walmart Health centers across the United States, by the end of 2024.
The new health centers will cover about 5,750 square feet and offer services including primary care, dental care, behavioral health, labs and X-ray, audiology and telehealth, according to the company. The centers will be located in the stores.
The company operated 32 Walmart healthcare centers at the end of 2022 and plans to open 17 more in 2023.
“With this growth in 2024, we will nearly double our current footprint, offering accessible, convenient and affordable care in two new states and expanding our presence in Texas,” said Dr. David Carmouche, Walmart’s senior vice president of Omnichannel Care, in the statement.
Walmart debuted its freestanding health center concept in 2019. There are 32 Walmart Health locations open across Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois and Texas.
The new centers set for opening in 2024 include:
· 10 locations in the Dallas metro area
· 8 locations in the Houston metro area
· 6 locations in the Phoenix metro area
· 4 locations in the Kansas City, MO, metro area
