Twitter says it is testing a new feature that will allow users to edit their tweets, which is one of their most requested features.
According to a blog post from Twitter on Thursday, the company said that it is testing the “Edit Tweet” feature internally. The company will eventually roll out the feature to Twitter Blue subscribers in the next few weeks to test as well. “Edit Tweet” will allow users to make edits to their tweet once it’s published, giving them the ability to fix any typos, add tags and more.
The Associated Press said the edit function will give people about 30 minutes to make changes once the tweet is published. Once it is edited, that tweet will be labeled with an icon and timestamp. This makes it even easier for people to find past versions of that tweet.
“For context, the time limit and version history play an important role here. They help protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly accessible record of what was said,” Twitter said in its blog post.
According to the AP, the ability to edit tweets has been one of the most requested features from Twitter users.

“We’re hoping that, with the availability of “Edit Tweet”, tweeting will feel more approachable and less stressful. You should be able to participate in the conversation in a way that makes sense to you, and we’ll keep working on ways that make it feel effortless to do just that,” said Twitter in its blog post.
Twitter is testing the edit feature with a small group to help find and resolve any possible issues before it gets rolled out across the board, according to the AP.
No information has been released about how long the testing phase will be or when users can expect the feature to be rolled out to all users.
