OCEANSIDE, Calif. — A skydiver in Oceanside, California was seriously hurt after his parachute reportedly malfunctioned Friday evening.
The Oceanside Fire Department said that a skydiver reportedly fell and hit the roof of a house just after 5 p.m. Friday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The man who was described to be in his 30s or 40s from GoJump Oceanside reportedly fell between two houses on Toopal Drive after hitting the roof.
The man’s parachute opened partially and he did not go into a complete freefall but his drop was “at an accelerated pace” and was uncontrolled, the Oceanside Fire Department said, according to The Associated Press.
The skydiver was taken to the hospital. He suffered serious injuries but they are non-life-threatening and no other injuries were reported, according to the AP.
