SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio school police officer died on his second day of work in a crash on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Officer Matthew David Krupa, 27, of the North East Independent School District, died when his Jeep Wrangler collided with a Dodge Charger, KSAT reported.
According to San Antonio police, the driver of the Dodge stopped at a stop sign and then attempted to turn left without yielding the right of way to oncoming traffic, the television station reported. Krupa swerved to try and avoid a crash but hit the Charger, causing his vehicle to roll and land on its roof, KSAT reported.

North East ISD spokesperson Aubrey Chancellor told KENS that Krupa had just started Wednesday for the district and was on his way to work when the crash occurred.
Krupa was pronounced dead at the scene, KSAT reported. The other driver was injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment, the television station reported.
A witness captured video of more than a dozen people who tried to help after the crash by pushing the 4,000-pound Jeep on its side.
“These were all people getting out of their cars and just blocking the whole street and ran up to the vehicle and just started pushing,” the man, who was not identified, told KENS. “It was awesome seeing so many people get together and jump out of their vehicles to try and flip this vehicle back over.”
