HIGH POINT, N.C. — BFG North Carolina on Thursday recalled nearly 1,400 five-drawer chests of drawers sold exclusively at Rooms To Go.
If not properly anchored to the wall, the River Street Five-Drawer Chests pose fall and entrapment hazards that may result in serious injuries or death to children, according to the recall notice.
In addition, the recalled dressers do not comply with performance requirements outlined by ASTM 2057-19, the United States’ voluntary industry standard governing such items, the notice stated.
The recalled chests were manufactured in Brazil between December 2018 and October 2021, and imported by High Point, North Carolina-based BFG North Carolina. The dressers were then sold at Rooms To Go Stores nationwide and online at www.roomstogo.com from February 2019 through October 2021 for about $600.
To date, no injuries linked to the recall have been reported.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled chests and contact Rooms To Go for a free in-home repair by trained technicians, free replacement or a full refund of the purchase price in the form of a Rooms To Go store credit, including free pick-up of the chest. Rooms To Go is contacting all known purchasers directly.
