In a Facebook post, Roseville Police Department confirmed a suspect has been taken into custody following a shooting incident Thursday.

California Highway Patrol officers were serving a search warrant to the suspect when he began shooting, Roseville Police Capt. Kelby Newton said, according to The Associated Press. One of the officers with the California Highway Patrol was shot.

Once police arrived in the area, the officers reportedly confronted the suspect, Newton said, according to the AP. The suspect took two hostages but eventually surrendered to officers.

Both of the hostages were shot by the suspect. According to police, one of the hostages was killed and the other has been hospitalized. It is not clear what the current condition of the surviving hostage is, the AP reported.

The officer who was shot is in stable condition, police say.

Newton on Twitter said the identification of the hostages and the deceased will not be released until the next of kin is notified.

Information about the warrant has not yet been released, according to the Sacramento Bee.

More information is expected Friday or over the weekend. Roseville is located northeast of Sacramento, according to the AP.
