HOLLAND, Mich. — A good Samaritan’s sharp eye probably saved the lives of several abandoned puppies Saturday night.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a box full of puppies was spotted along a busy Michigan road during a storm. The eight rain-soaked puppies were later picked up by a deputy who took them to the Harbor Humane in Holland.
The shelter said that the puppies would not have survived the night if they had not been rescued.
“They were soaking wet with low temperatures and a couple are still in critical condition, but we are hopeful that they all will pull through. They will all be going into foster homes where they will get warmth, snuggles, and TLC from our awesome group of foster families. The two critical condition puppies are currently being cared for by a staff member and monitored closely,” Harbor Human said in a Facebook post.
The shelter asked for any information about who may have abandoned the puppies in their Facebook post.
“It breaks our hearts that things happened this way. Had they reached out to Harbor, we would have been more than willing to help, and this dangerous situation could have been avoided.”
The puppies aren’t ready for adoption as the shelter focuses on “making sure they get the best care possible.”
