GRIFFITH, Ind. — An Indiana duck hunter found human skeletal remains while searching for waterfowl in a marsh on Saturday, authorities said.
According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the remains were found by the hunter in Griffith at about 7 a.m. EDT, WXIN-TV reported.
The hunter immediately called 911 after finding what appeared to be bones protruding from clothing in a marshy area while he searched for a downed duck, according to the television station.

The remains were confirmed to be human and were recovered by Indiana conservation officers, along with members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office dive team, WISH-TV reported.
Authorities have not identified the remains, according to WXIN.
An investigation is ongoing.
