Photos show Yosemite firefall, water looks like fire

In a spectacular phenomenon that happens when the setting sun illuminates Yosemite's Horsetail Fall, the waterfall appears to gush fire.

Calif. — "Every year for two weeks in February, the sun sets at a certain angle and illuminates the waterfall in luminescent orange and red, making it look like a fluid fire," photographer Sangeeta Dey wrote on Facebook. "I've met photographers who said that they have been coming for 11 years only to see this happen 2 or 3 times."

Dey said she arrived at the national park at 2 p.m. one day last week to find a spot, ultimately settling under a bush.

“When the fall started glowing, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” Dey wrote. “For 10 minutes, all of us sat there mesmerized by this spectacle. When it ended, a few of us had tears in our eyes. Some of us were clapping. And others were just ecstatic to finally get a chance to see it after trying for years.”

The first photo I posted was from my iPhone and this is the camera shot. It was an awesome experience to see this happen in person especially with the heart shaped mist to celebrate Valentine's Day. Mother Nature has a sense of humor. This event only happens for 1-2 weeks in February. As the sunset approached, I started to get nervous because the person in front of me said the event only last about 2 mins or less. I was omg I only have one chance at this so I did not change my point of view which I wish I did for some different perspectives. Either way, I came out happy with what I experienced.
