"Harry Potter" fans have been able to visit the series-inspired theme park in Orlando since 2010, but a three-day fall festival in New York will offer families the opportunity to explore the wizarding world in a different way.
Wizarding Weekend began last year and exploded into a weekend with thousands of attendees from across the country, the Huffington Post reported.
"The weekend is like a dream come true for many children and their parents," Jennifer Tavares, president of the Ithaca Chamber of Commerce, said. "Events like this are a truly unique experience to which watching the movies cannot compare."
The festival includes special activities, which are all free, such as themed food tastings and Horcruxes that are placed throughout the town for people to find. It also includes events such as "potion-making (or cocktail-making)" courses for adults to take.
If you’re in the Potter mood before the spin-off movie comes out next month, the eight films in the original franchise are set to return to IMAX starting this week.
