Threatening call prompts evacuation of King County Courthouse

SEATTLE — The King County Courthouse has been evacuated after staff received a threatening phone call.

The Seattle Police Department’s Arson and Bomb Squad was called to the building at Third Avenue and Jefferson Street  Friday afternoon after the call was  received at 1:15 p.m.

Staff was evacuated as a precaution.

Streets around the courthouse remain open, though some of the sidewalk has been cordoned off with police tape.

Staff are standing in and along a nearby park while police investigate and work to identify the caller.
