VIDEO: Thieves stealing thousands of dollars in premium liquor

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

SEATTLE — It took just three minutes for thieves to steal $7,000 in premium liquor from the Ballard Liquor Store.

“They know what they’re doing,” said Ablom Mengstu, the store’s owner.

Video shows the burglars prying the front door open wearing masks and gloves. Then they went right for the best stuff, quickly packing it into baskets and boxes.

Mengstu’s store is one of at least five liquor stores police believe may have been hit in the last few months in Seattle by the same well-organized band of burglars.

Bob Enloe’s liquor store in Lake City has been hit three times. Despite his effort to reinforce doors and windows and add security, the thieves keep breaking through.

“They are very organized,” Enloe said. “They have (a) lookout and they know where to park so you can’t get license plate numbers with security cameras.”

Enloe said he knows of other owners in Everett and south of Seattle who have also been hit.

Seattle Police have been working the case but so far the thieves have been very careful.  If you know anything about the crime spree, call the SPD.
