Students mourn loss of classmates killed in crash

BREMERTON, Wash. — Three candles outside Bremerton’s Olympic High School are staying lit for three students who were killed in a crash over the weekend.

They were killed early Sunday morning coming back from a party when their Toyota Corolla slammed into a tree off Seabeck Holly Road, according to police.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office identified the victims as 18-year-old Luther Wiggins-Stoudemire, 14-year-old Jenna Farley and 16-year-old Kassidy Clark.

The victims’ classmates stopped by before school started Monday and read the notes left behind by close friends.

Damon Dore was one of them.

“All of them made people laugh. All three of them made a lot of people laugh, so that's going to be something we'll all remember here today,” said Dore.

Most students only learned about the deaths Sunday.

“When your best friend calls you, and has to let you know what happened, it's just an eye-opener,” said Dore.

Friends also mourned the sudden loss of their three classmates at a vigil Sunday night.

“After, everyone was just about done crying.  Even though there's going to be more crying today, and there's going to be so much sadness and grief going around,” said Dore.

The victims’ friends said there will be another vigil Tuesday.

The 17-year-old driver, also a classmate, survived.  He is in the Kitsap Juvenile Detention Center on charges of vehicular homicide.

Sheriff's deputies are investigating whether excessive speed or driver impairment were factors in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies gave the driver a blood test soon after arriving at the scene.  The results are pending.

The driver is expected to appear in court at 1:30 p.m.
