ABERDEEN, Wash. — A man who is accused of crashing his truck into the Blue Beacon Restaurant and Lounge and leaving the scene Monday was booked into jail, the Aberdeen Police Department said.

Police said they were called to 406 South Boone St. about 6:17 p.m. after a caller reported hearing a large crash.

Law enforcement said the caller advised them moments later a vehicle had struck the building and the driver was leaving.

A witness identified the man suspected of crashing through the building as Kyle Deitrick, officials said.

When an officer arrived at the scene of the crash, he was told Deitrick walked away.

The restaurant was described as having extensive damage to a rear corner of the building and water was coming from it, police said. The building wall was said to have been pushed into the bar area.

A witness told officers that a bar employee had stepped away just moments before the truck crashed through, missing her, officials said.

The Ford F350 involved in the crash also had front-end damage to it, police said.

Police said they were also told by a witness, Deitrick was arguing with someone in the restaurant before the crash.

A K-9 officer was used to locate Deitrick, but could not track him down, law enforcement officials said.

After a restaurant employee identified Deitrick, a Grays Harbor deputy went to the suspect’s Montesano home and was unsuccessful in finding him, officials said.

In a second visit to Deitrick's home, an Aberdeen officer found him and he was intoxicated, police said.

The Aberdeen Police Department said Deitrick told the officer one of his buddies must have stolen his keys off the counter while he was at the Blue Beacon.

Police told Deitrick witnesses placed him at the scene. Officials said he was arrested.
