Pierce County detectives determined on Tuesday that a man killed in a single-car collision in Pierce County on Friday died from a gunshot wound, and not the collision itself, according to a tweet from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 28, around 11 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision in the 10400 block of Woodland Avenue East.
The car, a purple and early 90s Mazda Miata, had been traveling at high speed when it left the road and struck a large tree.
The 24-year-old driver suffered from life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.
The medical examiner determined the man died from a gunshot wound and not the collision itself.
