Crews called to the scene said smoke was seen coming from the roof.

When firefighters arrived, they attacked the fire from the outside and ventilated the roof. They also searched the duplex to make sure no one was inside and kept the fire from spreading to a nearby detached garage, officials said.

The fire damaged two units in the duplex.

No people were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
