SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — Six teen boys who attacked a staff member at a Snoqualmie juvenile facility and later escaped were captured early Sunday morning, said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident started around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Echo Glen Children's Center in the 33000 block of Southeast 99th Street.
A staff member at the facility was assaulted by six teenage boys and was left unconscious.
Authorities said, the boys attacked her, took her keys and radio and locked her in her room.
Other juveniles at the facility found the staff member and reported the incident.
Deputies arrived at the location to find the six boys, and were assisted by the Washington State Patrol and Snoqualmie Police Department.
The King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter arrived to search the wooded area near the facility.
Guardian One found the six boys, but they split into three groups of two after being spotted and ran in different directions.
Deputies on the helicopter guided authorities and K9 units on the ground to where the boys were running or hiding.
West said one of the boys was bitten by a K9 dog while trying to escape apprehension. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The five other boys were arrested and booked at the Youth Services Center for second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and escape.
Three of the boys were 14-year-olds and the other three were 15-year-olds.
A majority of the boys were in the facility for assault and firearms convictions.
