Shooting sparks security concerns at Silverdale hospital

SILVERDALE, Wash. — A shooting in Kitsap County prompted security concerns at Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale Tuesday morning.

At about 9:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in which the victim was being taken by private vehicle to Harrison Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Initially, the shooting prompted hospital security to check everyone coming into the emergency room.

Deputies then determined the shooting occurred at a dead end off of Northwest Hood Canal Farms Road of Willamette-Meridian Road in rural central Kitsap County.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as 28-year-old Bremerton man Zechariah S. Chadwick. Chadwick is described as 6 feet tall, 185 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is believed to be driving a dark gray 1990 Ford Mustang two-door coupe with Washington license AND-4827.  The vehicle has been reported as as stolen.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911 or if calling from outside of Kitsap County, 360-308-5400.

The controlled access at the hospital was lifted a little more than an hour after the initial concern.
