SEATTLE — Protesters who want to stop Shell Oil from drilling in the arctic are rallying in Seattle.
Friday at 5:30 a.m., the protesters met in West Seattle at the Delridge Community Center Park.
A few dozen demonstrators closed both directions of West Marginal Way Southwest just west of Chelan Avenue South.
They have since moved off the street.
There have been numerous protests on both land, and on water since the massive rig arrived in Seattle last month. Others support the oil rig being in Seattle because of the jobs it has created.
The Polar Pioneer will leave Wednesday to head to Alaska. Protests are planned over the weekend as well.
