SEATTLE — Based in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, Tableau Software employs 1,500 people worldwide.
The founders met in California, but used a spare bedroom in Seattle to grow their dream.
“From the first days we really wanted to go to a pace in the city that had soul and spirit and a great metropolitan feel, so we picked Fremont, said CEO Christian Chabot
We talked with Chabot outside the Washington State Convention Center right after he rang the gong that ended the trading day. “In our last financial statements we've grown about 80 percent a year and we're hiring a hundreds of people a year now,” he said.
Tableau is one of 500 Seattle area startups listed by GeekWire, a new wave that goes beyond Microsoft and Amazon.
“We moved to Seattle because we thought it would be a better place to build a business,” Chabot explained.
The Tableau Software makes it easy for users to display graphically the relationship between the sets of numerical information. This type of visual analytics is primarily for big corporations managing big data, but Tableau also offers a version individuals can use.
Chabot says that many fantasy football players use it determine which players to draft
Chabot sees more tech startups coming to Seattle. “It's a wonderful eco system for building a business. It's also great for work-life balance.
