QUINCY, Wash. — A new wildfire southeast of Wenatchee near the town of Quincy forced some rural residents near Quincy, Washington, to flee their homes.
Evacuations orders have since been lifted for people in the area of Adams Road North and County Road 13 Northwest.

An emergency shelter has been set up for evacuees at Quincy Junior High School, 417 C Street Southeast, in Quincy.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports that five structures have been destroyed in the fire. It was only 2 percent contained as of 5 a.m., but that estimate grew to 20 to 30 percent by 6 a.m.
The fire grew to 2,100 acres and 20 homes were in a Level 3 evacuation. Several acres of crops were also threatened.
The wind is driving the fire southeast. State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources shortly after 2 a.m.
