TACOMA, Wash. — A man identified as a registered sex offender was arrested after he stripped naked and tried to rape an employee at a Tacoma foot massage business, according to police.
The attack happened on the afternoon of Oct. 31 at Imperial Foot Massage at 9205 South Tacoma Way.
According to police, a man came into the business and asked for a massage. Police said a female employee took him to a room, but when she returned shortly after, the man was nude.
When she went to give him a towel, he attacked her and tried to force her onto the massage table, but she broke free and ran out of the room, according to investigators.
The man ran after her and tried to get her back into the room, but she again broke free, ran out of the business and hid until the man left.
The surveillance system inside the business captured some of what happened and showed the naked man with what appeared to be a GPS monitoring bracelet on his leg running after the woman and grabbing her.
Police said the video was of good quality and several still images were circulated to area police and the Department of Corrections.
A DOC officer recognized the man in the photos as someone he was supervising that had failed to check in and was a registered sex offender who was wearing a monitoring bracelet.
Tacoma police said the GPS history showed him in the complex at the business at the time where the attack occurred.
When detectives located him at his place of employment Wednesday, he appeared to be wearing the same jacket that was seen in the surveillance video.
The man was identified as Samuel Sparks. Police said Sparks asked for an attorney when he was questioned about the crime.
He was booked into the Pierce County Jail.
