BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Mount Vernon police Officer Mike "Mick" McClaughry, shot in the head while on the job in December, finished a 5K race in Bellingham called 'Fun With the Fuzz' Saturday.

The Bellingham Police Department tweeted out a photo showing McClaughry finishing the race with his hands raised.

The 'Fun with the Fuzz' 5K "is a road race in Bellingham Washington that is open to both runners and walkers. 100% of the proceeds from this race go directly to the Behind the Badge Foundation which is responsible for taking care of the families of fallen officers as well as maintaining the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial located in Olympia" according to the event's website.

McClaughry started with the Mount Vernon Police Department in 1985.

After a long recovery, McClaughry was discharged from Harborview Medical Center on Valentine's Day, the same day as his wedding anniversary.

Friends and family are hosting a 'Hike for Mike' fundraiser in Burlington next month.
