Comcast outage causes 911 calls from Snohomish Co. to be routed to B.C.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — After a Comcast outage cut cable TV service to people in Seattle, Portland and Tacoma shortly after midnight Tuesday, some of the company’s voice customers in Snohomish County were unable to reach 911.

At 4:25 a.m., SnoPac 911 told KIRO 7 that Snohomish County Comcast Voice customers calling 911 were being improperly routed to British Columbia.  Those with Comcast Voice were told to call 911 using a cellphone.

Comcast later said a hardware failure in Chicago affected customers nationwide.

The issue was fixed by 6 a.m.
